How to Help

Jock is a long way from home and living under very difficult circumstances.

We think it is important to keep Jock's story alive in people's minds, otherwise there is a risk that he will be lost and without a voice in the Bulgarian penal system. Please read the material on the website and encourage your friends to do do the same so that as many people as possible will hear of Jock's plight.

If you would like to make a donation to help Jock, an account has been set up for this purpose.

More than a year ago, the Australian Government sent a request to the Bulgarian Government that Jock be transferred to Australia to serve the remainder of his sentence. The Bulgarian authorities have yet to give a clear indication of what is required for Jock to be transferred.

It is very important that the authorities in both countries are aware of the public concern for Jock and our desire (on humanitarian grounds) for Jock to serve the remainder of his sentence closer to family and friends. The Australian Government has been very supportive of Jock and his family during and after the court process and we want this same level of interest and support to continue.

If you are concerned by Jock's plight, the lack of a a fair trial in Bulgaria and the ongoing delays in his prisoner transfer to Australia, it would help if you could write to:

1. In Australia - your federal Member of Parliament
• the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator the Hon Bob Carr, see
• European Union delegation to Australia, see
• The Bulgarian Ambassador to Australia, Mr Krassimir Stefanov, see The Bulgarian Embassy in Australia

2. In any country - the Bulgarian Embassy in your country.

Jock very much appreciates receiving mail and visits. As you can imagine, it is important for his morale to see a friendly face during visiting hours, so consider a visit to Bulgaria to see Jock if you are overseas. Jock also enjoys reading letters - as long or short as you like, with plenty of details about what you are doing.
